Die-Sinking EDM
What Is Die-Sinking EDM?
In die-sinking EDM, material is not cut or drilled but removed using electrical discharges. A shaped copper or graphite electrode “sinks” into the workpiece without applying any mechanical forces – in fact, it does not even touch it. The shape of the electrode is reproduced precisely in the material.
This makes the process ideal for complex geometries, sharp edges, fine contours, and materials that are difficult to machine – such as hardened steel, HSS, conductive ceramics, and even carbide.
Our Machine – Precision Made in Germany
Our die-sinking EDM machine is a true original – reliably in service for over 40 years and still in top condition. It has probably produced more sparks than some people see in an entire career.
Even though it does not feature a modern full CNC control, it is equipped with a traverse control system that can execute programmed movements with precision. This allows repeat machining operations to be carried out reliably and efficiently. And since many jobs are one-off parts anyway, this “limitation” is usually no disadvantage at all.
The machine impresses with its massive construction, which ensures outstanding stability, and still provides highly accurate geometry on all axes, regularly verified. The result: precise machining, consistent quality, and absolute dimensional accuracy – whether for single parts or small series.
Thanks to its age, we were able to acquire the machine at a very reasonable price. The low investment costs allow us to offer our customers a particularly attractive machine hourly rate.
Our Technical Capabilities:
- Maximum axis travels: 300mm x 200mm, height: 300 mm
- Maximum clamping dimensions: 450mm x 350mm, height: 300mm
- Maximum current: 120 A
- High-precision EROWA ITS quick-change system for accurate and repeatable clamping of workpieces and electrodes
- Traverse control with programming function – for efficient, repeatable processes
- Machining of hardened steels, carbides, and special alloys
- Precise shaping according to customer drawing or sample
- Creation of fine surface finishes with low roughness values
- Production of single parts and small batches
Practical Examples
- You need a coolant hole in an HSS or carbide tool? No problem!
- You require a groove in an HSS thread cutter? We can do that!
- You want a thread machined into a carbide insert? We can!
Your Benefits
- Machining even after heat treatment – no distortion, no stress cracks
- Implementation of special solutions where conventional methods reach their limits
- High rigidity and still highly precise geometry for consistent quality
- Attractive hourly rate thanks to low amortization costs
- Personal support and flexible job processing
Sometimes it's not the newest machine that makes the difference, but the perfect combination of proven technology and experience. That is exactly what we offer – with precision that hits the mark spark by spark.
