An electrolytic polishing process facilitates workpiece pre-treatment – on one hand through its uniform effectiveness on every part of the surface, and on the other hand through the simple possibility of semi- and fully-automated operation. This provides significant time and effort advantages compared to manual or vibratory polishing.
Moreover, it is essential for bright anodized aluminum, as the required smoothness in the nanometer range can only be achieved chemically.
During the development of this additive, we focused especially on simple and, above all, safe usability, so that the process can be integrated into existing anodizing lines easily and without major investment.
Our polishing additive meets the following requirements:
- specifically developed for brightening low-alloy aluminum
- very efficient
- non-critical regarding polishing time
- produces a clear, colorless bath – allowing good observation of the polishing progress
- no corrosive/toxic fumes
- low maximum bath temperature of 80°C – resulting in no vapor formation and significantly lower energy costs
- required current from 2 amperes per dm² at 10–20 V – standard anodizing power supplies can be used directly
- short treatment time of 5–8 minutes (pre-polished) or 15 minutes (unpolished)
- unlimited shelf life – both for the powder additive and the prepared bath
